Volunteers clean Alabama River Aug. 1 as part of Renew Our Rivers campaign
What: A cleanup of the Alabama River will be Saturday, Aug. 1 in Camden at the Bridgeport Beach Park Pavilion. The cleanup will begin at 8 a.m. and end at noon.
Overview: Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaign, have collected more than 10 million pounds of trash and debris from Alabama and Southeast rivers since the program’s 2000 inception. There are 23 cleanups planned through Oct. 24 on the Cahaba, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Black Warrior and Mobile rivers.
Directions: From the north: travel south on Highway 41 to Camden. Turn right onto Highway 10. Travel approximately one mile and turn right onto County Road 37/Bridgeport Road. Travel approximately four miles to Bridgeport Park Beach Pavilion on left.
From the south: travel north on Highway 41. Turn left onto Highway 10. Travel approximately one mile and turn right onto County Road 37/Bridgeport Road. Travel approximately four miles to Bridgeport Park Beach Pavilion on left.
