LAKE CONDITIONS ALERT
Spillway gates operating at Coosa River dams; Weiss and Logan Martin expected to rise above summer pool level
Because of heavy rains from Tropical Storm Ida, Alabama Power has opened spillway gates at its Coosa River dams to help manage rising lake levels. Spillway gates are open at Henry, Logan Martin, Lay, Mitchell and Jordan dams. Two storage reservoirs on the Coosa – Weiss Lake and Logan Martin Lake – are expected to rise above summer pool levels. Individuals with property or equipment on these two reservoirs or near the shoreline of these two reservoirs should take appropriate precautions. Alabama Power will be updating its lake information pages on the Internet with elevation projections for Weiss and Logan Martin lakes. Alabama Power will continue to closely monitor conditions on the lakes and manage resources carefully. Individuals with boats and other water-related equipment and facilities should always be alert to changing conditions on Alabama Power reservoirs and be prepared to take the necessary steps to protect their property.
