What:              The 20th annual Lake Jordan cleanup will be this Saturday, April 17. Volunteers will meet at Bonner’s Point Landing at 8 a.m. to remove trash, tires and discarded items from the lake. The cleanup will end at noon, followed by a picnic lunch.

The Lake Jordan cleanup is the oldest event in the Renew Our Rivers program and is being coordinated by the Lake Jordan Home Owners and Boat Owners Association. In 2009, almost 4 tons of trash and debris was removed from the lake with the help of 200 volunteers.

Overview:      Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river

cleanups, have collected more than 10 million pounds of trash and debris from Alabama and Southeast rivers since its inception in 2000. Twenty-five cleanups are planned through October. Cleanups are held each year on the Cahaba, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Black Warrior, Mobile and Alabama rivers.

From Wetumpka – Take Highway 231 to Coosa River Parkway/Highway 14 West.  At the first intersection, take Highway 111 north for 7.2 miles to Bonner's Point Road. Turn right and follow Bonner's Point Road a half mile to the boat ramp.
