The Alabama Power board of directors has elected Ted McCullough as a senior vice president and senior production officer with responsibility for the company’s generating fleet, effective immediately.  The Alabama Power responsibility had been previously held by Jerry Stewart, who has decided to retire as executive vice president and chief production officer for Southern Company effective October 1.

McCullough was most recently vice president and senior production officer for Gulf Power in northwest Florida.  He has been with Southern Company since 1987, where he has moved up through positions of responsibility in engineering, power generation and fuel services.  He served in engineering leadership positions for seven years at Alabama Power’s Plant Gorgas and three years as plant superintendent at the Lay Dam hydroelectric facility.

“Ted has an exemplary track record ensuring our generating facilities operate reliably and at peak efficiency,” said Alabama Power’s President and CEO Charles McCrary.  “His expertise will ensure that our customers and the state of Alabama can count on having a dependable supply of electricity.”

McCullough is a registered professional engineer with degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics from Vanderbilt University and a master’s degree in business administration from Auburn University.

McCullough and his wife, Anne, have two children, Mary Kathryn and Griffin.
