Three schools sign up for alternate energy rate

Three Alabama schools have signed up for Alabama Power’s PAE (Purchase of Alternate Energy) rate.

Isabella High School in Chilton County and Jacksonville High School in Calhoun County have installed solar photovoltaic panels while Florala High School in Covington County has installed wind turbines. Under the PAE rate, Alabama Power will purchase any excess power produced from the schools’ alternative energy systems.

The schools plan to use the systems to teach students about renewable sources of electricity, such as wind and solar.

The PAE rate is available to any customer who installs small-scale, alternative energy systems. For details about the alternate energy rate, call Customer Service at 1-800-245-2244 or visit http://www.alabamapower.com/pricing/pdf/PAE.pdf.

Alabama Power's 6,800 employees are dedicated to protecting the environment while providing reliable, affordable electricity to more than 1.4 million customers across the state. To learn more about alternative and renewable energy, log on to http://www.alabamapower.com/renewableenergy/.
