What:               The 3^rd annual Alabama River cleanup is Saturday, July 31 in Camden. Volunteers with or without boats will meet at Glenn Robinson’s house, 27 Riverfront Road, at 8 a.m. to remove trash, tires and discarded items from the river. The cleanup will end at noon, followed by a hotdog lunch.

This Renew Our Rivers cleanup is coordinated by Wilcox Natural and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In February 2010, approximately 6,500 pounds of trash and more than 60 tires were removed by about 100 volunteers during the Alabama River cleanup in Camden.  

Overview:        Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river

cleanups, have collected more than 10 million pounds of trash and debris from Alabama and Southeast rivers since cleanups began in 2000. Twenty-five cleanups are held through October each year on the Cahaba, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Black Warrior, Mobile and Alabama rivers.

Directions:       Travel on Highway 41 to Camden. Take 10 Bypass to County Road 31. Travel on County Road 31 until it deadends into the river. 27 Riverfront Road is on the right.
