BIRMINGHAM – The Alabama Power Archives will unveil its recently remodeled museum and open a new exhibit, “Electric Transportation: The Once and Future Solution” on Tuesday, Dec. 14 from noon until 6 p.m. 

Images and artifacts highlighting the history of the electric street railway systems of Alabama Power, as well as information about the company’s current electric transportation initiatives and programs, will be on exhibit. The Tesla electric roadster and other electric vehicles will also be on display.

The exhibit also features original artworks depicting the future of electric transportation. The works were created by visual arts students from the Alabama School of Fine Arts.   

The Alabama Power Archives displays artifacts documenting the company’s role in the economic development of Alabama and the growth of electric power throughout the Southeast. The archives and museum are located inside Alabama Power’s historic headquarters, at the corner of Sixth Avenue North and 18^th Street in downtown Birmingham. The museum is normally open Monday through Friday during regular business hours and is accessible through the company’s atrium entrance at 600 North 18th St.
