What:  Alabama Power has teamed with the city of Birmingham, Birmingham Park and Recreation Board, the Citizens Advisory Board and Birmingham neighborhoods for Operation Power Play – a joint initiative to upgrade playground equipment and beautify three city parks. Volunteers from the company and the neighborhoods will help with the beautification efforts during a community service day at each site.

When:  Wednesday, Jan. 26th at Germania Park in west Birmingham. Volunteers will start working on park improvements at 8 a.m. A dedication ceremony begins at 1 p.m. featuring Birmingham Mayor William A. Bell, Sr., Alabama Power President and CEO Charles McCrary and other local and community leaders.

Where:   Germania Park is located at 3000 Pearson Ave. S.W., Birmingham AL 35211

Directions:  From downtown Birmingham: Go west on Second Avenue North to Tuscaloosa Avenue (Past Princeton Baptist Hospital). Continue west on Pearson Avenue S.W. Park is on the right, past 29th Street S.W.
