Gulf Power and its employee volunteer group, Transformers, stepped up to donate to Appetite for Life on Friday after the charity’s building was destroyed by fire this week.

Gulf Power Transformers — an employee-driven charitable group — donated $3,000 to Appetite for Life, which provides food for 1,300 people, many of them with AIDS/HIV or other terminal illnesses. The Appetite for Life organization also has several hundred children in a summer food program.

“This was a tragic event that hurt a group that is directly feeding the needy,” said Jeff Rogers, Gulf Power spokesman. “Our employees recognize the vital support Appetite For Life provides to our community and we’re happy to help.”
