Gulf Power supports local non-profits through Leadership Symposium
Eighty people attended a Philanthropy Leadership Symposium on Friday hosted by Gulf Power Company and co-hosted by the Florida Philanthropic Network and the West Coast chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
In recognition of National Philanthropy Day, Gulf Power held the symposium to recognize and support fundraising professionals and philanthropic organizations in the community. National Philanthropy Day, Thursday, Nov. 15, is a registered trademark of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and was created to recognize and pay tribute to contributions that philanthropy — and active members of the philanthropic community — have made to individuals and communities. According to the Association of Fundraising Professionals, more than 125 communities and 50,000 people around the world will participate in National Philanthropy Day celebrations this year.
“This symposium was held to celebrate philanthropy as well as help local organizations learn how to work with philanthropic groups to reach their goals and ultimately help strengthen our community,” said Natalie Smith, Gulf Power spokesperson. The symposium was at Gulf Power’s Corporate office in Pensacola and included a panel discussion with Florida grantmakers about how fundraising professionals can engage effectively with foundation staff, a presentation from the President & CEO of Florida Philanthropic Network David Biemesderfer and an awards luncheon.
