The award is presented to companies annually for leading the way in workplace health and fitness efforts. Georgia Power received the award during the publication's third annual breakfast awards ceremony held at the Georgia Aquarium on Friday.

Nearly two dozen public and private companies – representing more than 20 industries – competed for the awards, which were presented in three segments: large (500 or more employees), medium (100 to 499 employees) and small (1 to 99 employees). Georgia Power received the No. 1 spot in the large company category. The company's workplace health and wellness efforts were measured in a survey issued by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and its partner, Healthiest Employers, a data research company that collects, measures and compares corporate wellness data worldwide.
