LAKE CONDITIONS ALERT
Spillway gates continue operating at Coosa river dams; Weiss, Logan Martin and Smith above summer pool level

Due to lingering rainfall, Alabama Power is operating spillway gates at its Henry, Jordan, Lay, Logan Martin, Mitchell and Weiss dams on the Coosa River to help manage flows and rising lake levels. Spill operations are expected to last the next several days as Alabama Power releases flows from the rains.

With the rains come increased lake levels at some reservoirs. On Monday, May 6, Weiss Lake on the Coosa River is expected to rise near 565 feet, which is about 1 foot above its normal summer pool elevation. Also Monday, Logan Martin Lake is expected to crest near 468 feet, or about 3 feet above its normal summer pool. And on the Warrior River, Smith Lake is expected to crest near elevation 511.5 feet late Sunday into early Monday, which is about 1.5 feet above normal summer pool.

Alabama Power will continue to closely monitor conditions on the lakes and manage resources carefully. Individuals with boats and other water-related equipment and facilities should always be alert to changing conditions on Alabama Power reservoirs and be prepared to take the necessary steps to protect their property.
