LAKE CONDITIONS ALERT
Spillway gates will continue operating at Coosa River dams; Weiss, Logan Martin and Smith above summer pool level
For the next several days, Alabama Power will continue operating spillway gates at its Henry, Jordan, Lay, Logan Martin, Mitchell and Weiss dams on the Coosa River due to persistent and locally heavy rainfall. The ongoing rain is causing lake levels to rise at some Alabama Power reservoirs. Weiss Lake on the Coosa River is expected to rise near elevation 564.5 feet today, which is nearly a half foot above its normal summer pool elevation. Logan Martin Lake is expected to crest near elevation 469.5 feet Wednesday, or about 4.5 feet above its normal summer pool elevation. Also Wednesday on the Warrior River, Smith Lake is expected to crest near elevation 512 feet, some 2 feet above its normal summer pool elevation. Alabama Power will continue to closely monitor conditions on the lakes and manage resources carefully. Individuals with boats and other water-related equipment and facilities should always be alert to changing conditions on Alabama Power reservoirs and be prepared to take the necessary steps to protect their property.
