Alabama Power partners with City of Montgomery on electric vehicle charging station

Leslie Sanders, vice president of Alabama Power's Southern Division, joined Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange this morning in dedicating the city's first municipally owned electric vehicle charging station.

"I commend the City of Montgomery and applaud the vision of Mayor Strange in recognizing a need for electric vehicle owners in the city,” Sanders said. “As a point of pride, the City of Montgomery is among the first municipalities in Alabama to install public charging for electric vehicles.  Through our ongoing partnership with the city, we will be collecting valuable data on public charging at this site – information that will help us better serve our customers in Montgomery and across the state who are interested in learning more about plug-in electric vehicles."

The electric vehicle charging station is located at the intersection of Commerce and Tallapoosa streets in downtown Montgomery.  For more information about Alabama Power’s electric transportation program, and a special rate rider available to owners of electric vehicles, please visit www.alabamapower.com.
