50 percent of Georgia manufacturer's annual energy usage generated by renewable sources

ATLANTA, July 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia Power announced today that TOTO USA, Inc., a high-volume manufacturer of bathroom fixtures in Morrow, Ga., has become one of the largest purchasers of Green Energy. The Green Energy program is available to the company's residential and business customers and enables them to purchase electricity produced from renewable generation sources including solar and biomass.

"We're proud of our ongoing and long-standing partnership with TOTO as they continue to increase their commitment to Green Energy," said Murry Weaver, vice president of sales for Georgia Power. "We would like to thank TOTO for their vision, dedication to environmentally positive manufacturing and for helping make the Green Energy program the success it is today."

Georgia Power started the Green Energy program in 2006 and currently works with more than 4,000 customers ranging from individual residential customers to large manufacturers such as TOTO. The program's impact is due largely to the commitment of "large volume" customers, who purchase a minimum of 90,000 kilowatt-hours of renewable energy every month.

TOTO is the world's largest manufacturer of bathroom fixtures and fittings with $5.1 billion dollars in annual sales. The company joined the Green Energy program in 2007, became a large-volume customer in 2009 by purchasing 2.2 million Green Energy kilowatt-hours annually, and, in 2013, increased that number to 5.8 million kilowatt-hours annually – roughly 50 percent of the company's overall energy usage.

"Taking care of the environment was part of the founding mission of TOTO in 1917 and we are always looking at what we can do to help conserve natural resources," said Bill Strang, president of operations for the Americas of TOTO USA.  "Participating in Georgia Power's Green Energy program was a natural step for our company and I would encourage any business to consider investing in green power – it's good for the planet, our people and for a profitable company."
