It doesn’t happen often, but if you lose power, timely information can be valuable. That’s why Gulf Power created an online map to help customers when the power’s out. Customers can get real-time information on their computer or mobile phone by going to MyGulfPower.com.

MyGulfPower.com offers a suite of features designed to improve your online experience. This new interactive map gives you a quick view of the Northwest Florida area and the ability zoom down to where you live. Small triangles show where the power’s out and if you hover over them with your cursor, a pop-up window provides more information, like the estimated time of when the power will be restored.

The pop-up window tells you how many customers are affected and whether a Gulf Power crew is on the way, or already on location making repairs.

“Studies across the country show customers want this type of information from their utility,” Natalie Smith, Gulf Power spokesperson, said. “This map, which is also accessible via mobile devices, provides estimated times when customer’s power will be restored. It’s an important tool that offers customers a new way to get information about outages, restoring power and storm information as well.

“Customers can see the outages on the map, but you can also report that your power is out or check on the status of restoring your power,” said Smith.

Gulf Power has a record of high reliability, and the map also shows the current reliability percentage for customers to see. A reliability indicator is on the upper left-hand side of the map, which shows the reliability percentage for the Gulf Power system in real-time. Typically the percentage is 99.99 percent on.

“On the rare occasion you are affected by an outage, we want you to have the information at your fingertips,” Smith added. “This will be a great tool to have, but we will be working hard to make sure our customers don’t need to use it often.”
