Glen Kundert Named Vice President, Investor Relations

ATLANTA, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Southern Company Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Paul Bowers today announced that Glen A. Kundert has been elected vice president, investor relations, effective immediately. He had been director, investor relations. Along with continuing to serve as Southern Company's primary liaison with the Wall Street community, including financial analysts and institutional investors, Kundert will also oversee the company's shareholder services function. "With his extensive knowledge of Southern Company and the electric power industry, Glen has long played a key role in cultivating and strengthening our relationships with the Wall Street community," said Bowers. "Building on that foundation, this new role enables us to use his skills across an even broader segment of the business." Kundert joined Southern Company as a public relations assistant in 1976 and progressed through various supervisory and management positions in corporate communication and governmental affairs. In 1985, he was named manager of the company's media relations department, a position he held until 1990. From 1990 to 1995 he oversaw external communications and national media relations programs from the company's Washington, D.C., office. From 1995 to 1999, Kundert managed the external affairs function at South Western Electricity, plc, in Bristol, England, where he served on the first team to manage a Southern Company acquisition in Europe. He was named director, investor relations, in 1999. In his career spanning nearly 32 years, Kundert has represented the company in 13 countries on three continents. A native of Atlanta, Kundert holds a BA and MA in mass communications from the University of West Florida.
