What: The ninth annual Weiss Lake Renew Our Rivers cleanup is Saturday, March 15. Volunteers will meet at the Causeway Landing between Centre and Cedar Bluff on Highway 9 at 8 a.m. to remove trash, tires and discarded items from the lake. The cleanup will end at noon. Renew Our Rivers is being coordinated by the Weiss Lake Improvement Association. In 2007, 1,600 volunteers and 847 teachers and students collected 34,580 pounds of trash from Weiss Lake. Overview: Renew Our Rivers, the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaign, Cleanups are held on the Cahaba, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Black Warrior and Mobile rivers in Alabama.
