Alabama Power Company Board of Directors names new officer
BIRMINGHAM – The board of directors of Alabama Power has named Leslie D. Sanders the company’s vice president of governmental relations, effective Oct. 1. She succeeds Donnie Reese, who is retiring after 38 years of service at Alabama Power. “Leslie has considerable experience in a variety of areas in the company and she has proven herself a highly effective leader with unquestioned integrity,” said Charles McCrary, Alabama Power president and CEO. “We are pleased and fortunate to have someone of Leslie’s character as an officer of Alabama Power Company.” Sanders joined Alabama Power in 1986 as a marketing representative. She then worked as a public information representative in the company’s Southern Division and joined the governmental relations group in 1991. She sits on the board of directors for the Alabama Department of Human Resources and Children’s First Foundation and is a former board member of the Montgomery Riverfront Development Foundation and Coosa-Alabama River Improvement Association. She formerly sat on the executive committee for the Brantwood Children’s Home and was the coordinator of the 45th Anniversary event to commemorate the Montgomery Bus Boycott for the Montgomery Improvement Association (MIA). Sanders holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama. She is married to David Sanders, and they have two children.
