What: Alabama Power President and CEO Charles McCrary, plus key company officials, unveil new environmental controls at Plant Gorgas. The improvements are part of Alabama Power's $500 million initiative to significantly reduce emissions that contribute to ground-level ozone. When: Monday, June 17, 2002, 10:30 a.m. Interested media may tour the plant following the news conference. Where: Plant Gorgas, off Highway 269 in southern Walker County. Directions from Birmingham: Take I-20 West. Get off at exit 120, (20th Street/Ensley Avenue/Highway 269) and turn right. Continue north through Ensley towards Walker County.
