In response to heavy rains that fell Monday and Tuesday in the Coosa River watershed, Alabama Power is maintaining flood control operations at Weiss, Neely Henry and Logan Martin dams. These dams are being operated in accordance with flood control procedures prescribed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The lake elevation at Weiss Reservoir, located near Centre, Ala. is near its crest this morning. At 10:00 A.M. CST today, it was 564.2 feet mean sea level. Normal full summer pool is 564 feet. Only a slight rise is expected.

The Coosa River elevation at Gadsden is nearing crest today. At 10:00 A.M. CST, it was 510.3 feet mean sea level. It is not expected to rise above the Floor Stage of 511 feet mean sea level.

The latest forecast information indicates that Logan Martin Reservoir, located near Vincent, Ala., will exceed normal summer pool late tomorrow. The lake level is expected to crest near 467 feet mean sea level, about two feet above its normal full summer pool level of 465 feet. At 10:00 A.M. CST today, the lake elevation was 465.2 feet.

Persons with boathouses, boats or other property along the Coosa River should be alert to these unusually high elevations and take appropriate measures to protect their property.
