What:        Alabama Power will host a luncheon in honor of Dr. Betsy
               Rogers, National Teacher of the Year. Alabama Power President
               and CEO Charles McCrary will announce a donation to education
               in recognition of Dr. Rogers' achievements.

  When:        Friday, August 15, 2003. The luncheon begins at noon.
               The program ceremony begins at 12:30 p.m.

  Where:       Alabama Power Company corporate headquarters,
               600 North 18th Street, downtown Birmingham.

  Background:  Dr. Rogers, a teacher from Leeds Elementary School, was
               recently named National Teacher of the Year in June 2003.
               She is Alabama's first National Teacher of the Year in the
