April 23, 2008 What: The annual Lay Lake cleanup will be April 26. Volunteers will meet at the Beeswax Public Boat Launch at 8 a.m. to remove trash, tires and discarded items from the lake. The cleanup will end at noon followed by a picnic lunch. This Renew Our Rivers cleanup is coordinated by the Lay Lake Homeowners and Boat Owners Association and Alabama Power employees. More than 33 tons of trash was removed from Lay Lake in 2007. Overview: Renew Our Rivers, the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaign, Cleanups are held on the Cahaba, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Black Warrior and Mobile rivers in Alabama.
