Volunteers roll up their sleeves for cleanup on Bankhead Reservoir, part of Renew Our Rivers campaign, on May 31
What: The 5th annual Bankhead Reservoir cleanup will be Saturday, May 31. Volunteers with or without boats will meet at the Buddy Vines Camp at 8 a.m. to remove trash, tires and discarded items from the lake. The cleanup will end at noon followed by a picnic lunch. Directions: Directions to the Buddy Vines Camp From Birmingham – Take Interstate 20/59 west toward Tuscaloosa. Take the Ensley Avenue 20th Street exit 120 and bear right at the bottom of the ramp, which will become Highway 269. Follow Highway 269 for 15 miles and turn left onto Short Creek Road at the intersection with a BP. Follow Short Creek Road until it deadends. Turn left onto Alliance Road and travel 1.2 miles to the top of the third hill and take a hard right onto Buddy Vines Camp Road. Follow the road for 2.7 miles to the camp.
