Kathleen King to head Alabama Power’s Information Technology

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Aug. 26, 2008 - Kathleen King has assumed responsibility as the Regional CIO for Alabama Power effective Sept. 1, 2008. In her role, King will lead the development and implementation of information technology strategy and operations for the company. She most recently served as CFO and vice president of Corporate Services at Southern Nuclear. In this role, she oversaw various corporate functions that support the operations of Southern Company’s nuclear operating subsidiary. “Kathleen King’s appointment to direct information technology for Alabama Power is a very positive step for the company,” said Alabama Power President and CEO Charles McCrary. “The efficient operation of our IT infrastructure is critical to being able to provide reliable electric service to our customers. Her experience and leadership skills will be extremely valuable in this role.” King joined Southern Company in 1997 as CFO and Comptroller at Southern Nuclear. Previously, King served as Controller for Southern Ready Mix Inc. and as Audit Manager of Arthur Andersen LLP. King is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
