BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Oct. 3, 2008 - Scam artists are targeting the credit cards of Alabama Power customers for fraudulent use. There have been several reports of calls alerting the recipient they have an outstanding bill. The caller recommends a credit card  payment to take care of the bill. There are also reports of calls alerting consumers of a problem with their credit card that needs immediate attention. A toll-free number is given at the end of the call.

Alabama Power Company employees are not responsible for these calls. Customers who need to speak with a Customer Service Representative regarding their bill should call (800) 245.2244.

Customers who believe they have been the victim of fraudulent activity should contact their local police department.
