PENSACOLA, Fla. - Oct. 15, 2008 - Gulf Power is donating more than 2,000 MRE (Meal, Ready to Eat) meals to the American Red Cross to help the agency replenish a dwindling food supply following the recent hurricanes in Louisiana and Texas. “As part of hurricane preparations we maintain supplies such as MREs to feed the extra workers we bring after a hurricane,” John Hutchinson, Gulf Power’s General Manager of Corporate Services said. “It doesn’t look like we will need these this year, so we are donating them to the Red Cross before they expire next year.” The MREs will be delivered to the Red Cross building at 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Red Cross warehouse at NAS Pensacola. “We understand that others are always willing to help us after a hurricane here in Northwest Florida and we want to make sure that we use our resources wisely to help others in need,” Hutchinson said. ### Media Contacts: |
