Mississippi Power has energy efficiency all wrapped up
The $50,000 energy efficiency program, Efficiency in a Box, was funded by the Mississippi Power Education Foundation to teach students how to use energy efficiently at home and become more aware of their energy usage. “It was important to us to ensure the energy education that students are getting in schools is extended into homes,” said Becky Montgomery, director, Mississippi Power Education Foundation. “Our customers are very energy conscious and we want to continue to promote energy efficiency and provide money-saving energy tips that will serve our customers well during this tough economic climate.” Efficiency in a Box is a complete at-home energy saving kit students can share with their family. The kit contains a high-efficiency showerhead, a kitchen sink aerator, a compact fluorescent lamp, a night light, a Filtertone™ alarm, and tools for monitoring energy and water usage at home. The children take the kits home to share and install the products with their families and, in doing so, help reduce residential energy usage. Mississippi Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, serves approximately 184,000 customers in the 23 counties of # # #
