In a move designed to strengthen the company’s leadership team in advance of anticipated industry change and new challenges, Georgia Power’s Board of Directors approved the following management changes on May 17:

Ronnie Bates was elected vice president – Transmission. In this position, he will oversee the company`s transmission system, including maintenance, operations and new construction.

Mickey Brown was elected vice president – Distribution. In this position, he will oversee the company`s distribution system, including maintenance, operations and new construction.

Lamont Houston was elected vice president of Region Operations. He will oversee company operations in parts of metro Atlanta as well as in the eastern and southern portions of the state.

Richard Holmes was elected vice president of Region Operations. He will oversee operations in parts of metro Atlanta as well as in the western portion of the state.

David Altman was elected vice president of Corporate Communication for Georgia Power. He will continue to serve in a similar role for Southern Company.

Houston and Holmes will share responsibility for Region Operations with Jim Manley, already a vice president in Region Operations, who will be responsible for the northern portion of the state.

In particular, electing vice presidents of Transmission and Distribution became a strategic necessity because of changing federal policies and sweeping industry changes that are occurring nationally, Ratcliffe explained.
