Georgia Power announced July 1 the promotion of B.L. Pete Ivey to vice president of Administrative Services. In his new role he will be charged with leading the organization that includes Corporate Security, Risk Management, Workplace Ethics, Labor Relations and Corporate Facilities.
Petes proven record of problem solving and sound business judgment, along with his strong communication skills, make him the right leader for this position, said David Ratcliffe, Georgia Powers president and CEO. Pete has successfully managed our transmission system, which is a critical element of our business, and he has a reputation for building quality relationships among his employees and peers. I am excited about the skills that he brings to this position.
Ivey, 44, most recently held the position of General Manager of System Operations, the organization that has responsibility for the oversight and operation of Georgias transmission grid and Georgia Powers Transmission Control Center.
In his new role, Ivey will have responsibility for service organizations that support all of the power companys functional areas. We have tried to organize most of the Georgia Power service related functions under the umbrella of Corporate Services, said Richard Holmes, senior vice president of Corporate Services. The Administrative Services function, along with the Diversity and Corporate Relations function, will comprise the new Corporate Services organization.
Ivey has held several positions with the company since joining Georgia Power as an intern in 1977. His first full-time job in 1982 was as a junior engineer. He also held positions as an associate engineer, operating supervisor, engineering supervisor, area manager, assistant to the region vice president, distribution manager, transmission manager and power delivery manager.
Pete is a seasoned, credible leader who brings a wide scope of knowledge with him to this position, Holmes said. He understands where this company is trying to go in terms of gaining the trust of our employees and our customers. He is a great addition to our team.
Ivey is a 1982 graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelors of science degree in Electrical Engineering.
He and his wife Debbie have three children and live in Lawrenceville, Ga.
