ATLANTA – Georgia Power will soon begin lowering Lake Harding from full pool elevation to allow residents an opportunity to work on docks and other shoreline improvements. Goat Rock will be lowered for dam deformation work.

The draw down on Lake Harding will begin on Monday, October 3, 2005. The lake will be eight feet below full by Friday, October 7, and will begin refilling on Monday, November 7. Lake Harding should return to full pool by November 11.

Goat Rock will be lowered beginning Sunday, November 6, 2005. The dam will be seven to nine feet below full pool by Tuesday, November 8, and will be back to full pool by Friday, November 11.

Lake levels are affected by climate conditions such as rain, as well as generation demands and may fluctuate during the drawdown.

Residents may want to remove boats and other watercrafts from boatlifts during the drawdown. All changes, repairs or new construction on the shoreline must have a Georgia Power approved permit.
