During its August meeting, the Savannah Electric Board of Directors appointed Janet P. Galloway to the position of assistant corporate secretary for the company.

In addition to the new post, Ms. Galloway also serves as general manager of corporate services and employee relations for Savannah Electric.

A native of Kansas, Ms. Galloway received a Ph.D. from The University of Kansas in 1979. She joined Savannah Electric in 1985 and worked in a number of areas including marketing, corporate communications and human resources.

In 1997, Ms. Galloway was named manager of customer services, moving to the position of assistant to the CEO and to the vice president, customer operations and external affairs in October 1998.

In December 2001, Ms. Galloway was named director of human resources. The following year, she assumed additional responsibilities for the corporate service functions of the company.

Ms. Galloway is past president of the board of directors for the Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity. She has also been active in previous campaigns for the Chamber of Commerce, United Way, March of Dimes, and other community activities. She and her husband, Herb, have two adult children, Lisa and Eric.
