Savannah Electric is again joining with other utilities throughout Georgia to support Project Share. Project Share Day in Georgia is July 10 and the entire month has been designated Project Share Month, but customers may join this vital program throughout the year.

Established by the Salvation Army, the program addresses the urgent needs of persons on low or fixed incomes, the elderly and the disabled. The program provides emergency assistance with utility bills, food, shelter and clothing.

Last year, Savannah Electric customers and shareholders generously contributed more than $71,000 for distribution to some 1,350 homes in the area.

Savannah Electric customers can join this worthwhile project by pledging $1, $2, $5 or $10 a month to be included in their electric bill. Or, they may choose to make a one-time donation. Participation is purely voluntary.

During the month of July, customers may simply add their tax-deductible donation to the current balance due on their electric bill and be automatically enrolled for that same amount each month. The rest of the year, customers should simply call the company to enroll at 1-800-437-3890.

Contributions are processed and sent directly to Project Share, which is administered by The Salvation Army. All contributions raised in the five counties served by Savannah Electric are redistributed in those areas.

Participation in the program is automatically continued from year to year, unless donors contact the company to request otherwise. More information can be found in the July customer newsletter found in electric bills.
