Savannah Electric’s storm team gets new assignment in Isabel restoration efforts

After over a week away from home, the Savannah Electric storm team working in Maryland will be released by their host utility on Friday, September 26. Their return trip Saturday morning, however, will take them only as far as Richmond, Virginia.

There, the crews will get a safety briefing and orientation from Dominion Virginia Power before being assigned storm repair work in the area. The length of their assignment in Virginia is unknown; however, Dominion reported several hundred thousand customers remained out as of today.

The 18-member team has received numerous compliments from area residents in Maryland and the company is also receiving e-mailed “thank-you” messages from the region.

Savannah Electric’s president and CEO Anthony James visited the crews on Thursday, encouraging and thanking them for their efforts. He reported that the team was in good spirits and was gratified at being able to restore power and help the storm-ravaged area get back to normal.
