Savannah Electric event to benefit March of Dimes

The “Savannah Electric Ultimate Unioneers” will take on the “Savannah Electric Magic Managers” this evening in a basketball game to benefit the March of Dimes. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m., April 6, in the Shuman Middle School gym at 415 Goebel Ave. The public is invited. Employees will collect a $2 donation at the door ($1 for children under 12).

Each year, Savannah Electric employees participate in various activities to raise funds for the company’s March of Dimes campaign leading up to the community-wide WalkAmerica event on Saturday April 24, 1999. This year, in addition to “Blue Jeans for Babies Days,” Friday afternoon ice cream sales, cookouts, a putting tournament, and other activities, the basketball game was included.

Union employees comprise one team with various company managers making up the other. The fun but competitive event reprises similar competitions held some years ago.

Shuman Middle School is one of Savannah Electric’s two business partnership schools. The company and the school have worked well together since the relationship was established in 1983.
