Savannah Electric will deliver more than 300 books to Thunderbolt Elementary School today at 2 p.m. as part of the Power Pack Project. The Power Pack Project is a three-year state-wide partnership between businesses and schools that provides the students copies of their own books in an effort to stimulate a greater interest in early reading.

First graders at Thunderbolt Elementary School, one of Savannah Electric`s Business in Education partner schools, are the recipients. The students will receive three books this year, three more books in second grade and three books in third grade. These books, designed to enhance both reading enjoyment and comprehension, were selected by a group of teachers and reading specialists.

The three books the Thunderbolt first-graders will receive are Big Al, Stellaluna, and Henry and Mudge in the Green Time.

State Board Chair Johnny Isakson was instrumental in developing the Power Pack Project, which supports the goals of Reading First.
