Alabama Power Board of Directors names new officer

The Alabama Power Company Board of Directors has named Leigh Davis vice president with responsibility as chief information officer. She assumes the position effective immediately. In her new capacity, Davis will be responsible for technology strategy and implementation for Alabama Power as well as functional technology leadership for key business partners.

“Leigh’s experience throughout the company makes her perfectly suited to assume this important position,” said Alabama Power President and CEO Charles McCrary. “Information technology is a critical part of our business, and I am confident Leigh will oversee this group with great skill and success.”  

Davis, a native of Birmingham, began her career at Alabama Power with job responsibilities in Governmental Relations and Environmental Affairs.  She also has worked as a compliance manager at Miller Steam Plant, served as an attorney in Southern Company’s Washington, D.C., office and worked as assistant to the vice president of Governmental Affairs.  Additionally, she has experience as a project manager for the Alabama Power Office of Economic and Community Development and most recently as manager of Corporate Concerns Department.

Davis obtained both a law degree and bachelor of science degree from the University of Alabama.  She also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Samford University

Her civic involvement includes the Youth Leadership Forum and the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama Roundtable. Davis is a graduate of Leadership Birmingham.

She replaces Julia Segars, who recently was named vice president of Alabama Power’s Eastern Division.
