Todd Terrell has joined Mississippi Power as director of corporate communications, responsible for overseeing the companys internal and external communications, advertising, graphics design and media production.
Most recently, Terrell served as director of corporate communications for Southern Company. He began his Southern Company career at Georgia Power in 1988 as a media relations representative.
Terrell earned his Bachelor of Science degree in communications at Ball State University. Prior to joining Georgia Power, he worked as a news anchor and reporter at television stations in Augusta, Georgia and Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was also a news writer for National Public Radio.
Terrell was very active in the Atlanta community, serving as chairman of the board of The Empty Stocking Fund of Atlanta. He held leadership positions with the Georgia chapters of Prevent Child Abuse, the American Cancer Society, and the American Lung Association, and was a founding member of the board of directors of TEAM Georgia, a program that promotes safe driving to/from athletic events. He was a three-time past committee chairman of the Atlanta Press Club, past associate vice president of the Georgia Press Association, and is a member of the National Press Club and the Radio and Television News Directors Association.
