ATLANTA Southern Companys board of directors today approved a regular quarterly dividend of 33½ cents per share on the companys common stock, payable Sept. 6, 2001, to shareholders of record at the close of business on Aug. 6, 2001.
This marks the 215th consecutive quarter dating back to 1948 that Southern Company will have paid a dividend to its shareholders. The quarterly dividend equals an annual rate of $1.34 per share.
