Fuller named senior vice president, SEI

Southern Electric International has named S. Marce Fuller senior vice president for domestic operations, Southern Electric President Tom Boren announced today.

Fuller, who has been serving as vice president for domestic business development since February 1994, directs Southern Electric’s operations in the United States and Canada, including project development, asset management, energy trading, national accounts and energy management programs.

Previously, she worked in Southern Electric’s international business development area.

Southern Electric, a unit of the Southern Company, develops, builds, owns and operates power production and delivery facilities and provides a broad range of technical services to industrial companies and utilities in the U.S. and international markets. Southern Electric also administers the Southern Company’s wholesale energy trading activities through its Southern Energy Marketing unit.

The Southern Company (NYSE: S0) is also the parent firm of five electric utilities: Alabama Power, Georgia Power, Gulf Power, Mississippi Power and Savannah Electric. Other subsidiaries include Southern Communications Services, Southern Nuclear, Southern Development and Investment Group and Southern Company Services. Together, these companies make up one of the largest electric utility groups in the United States. The Southern Company’s common stock is one of the 20 most widely held corporate stocks in America.

Fuller, 36, joined the Southern Company in 1980 as a summer student engineer at Alabama Power. After graduation, she joined General Electric Co. as an engineer in its power system engineering department in 1983. She rejoined the Southern Company in 1985 as an electric system planning engineer in Alabama Power’s electric system planning and power contracts department. She became senior financial analyst, corporate finance, at Southern Company Services in 1987 and was named principal, strategic planning, two years later. In 1989, she became assistant to the president of Southern Company Services and was named business development manager at Southern Electric in 1991.

“The scope of Marce Fuller’s responsibilities at Southern Electric and her contributions to our business have increased enormously since she was named a vice president more than two years ago,” Boren said. “Her promotion to senior vice president reflects her status as one of the key members of our management team.”
