Miller named assistant to CEO

Joseph “Buzz” Miller has been named assistant to Southern Company Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer A.W. Dahlberg.

Miller moves to Southern Company’s Atlanta headquarters from Southern Company’s Washington office, where he has represented the interests of Birmingham-based subsidiaries Southern Nuclear and Southern Company Services since 1993.

“Buzz’s Washington experience, combined with his extensive time in company operations in Alabama, will make him a valuable assistant as I try to chart Southern Company’s course for the near future,” Dahlberg said.

Miller, 36, is a 1983 graduate of Auburn University, where he received a bachelor’s of science degree in chemical engineering. He attended Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, Ala. Miller joined Southern Company in 1986.
