Alabama NewsCenter shares the good stories of our state
Site offers reports about Alabama business, communities, culture and the state’s extraordinary people

Alabama NewsCenter launched today with a mission of sharing the positive stories of our state.

The site, developed by Alabama Power, features Alabama business stories, up-to-date weather information and articles about Alabama tourism, history and culture. The site will also profile Alabamians doing extraordinary things.

“Alabama NewsCenter will provide Alabama Power customers and the media with topical information about the state’s economic development efforts, business news, and stories about the people, places and events that make Alabama a great place to live, work and play,” said Mike Tomberlin, a veteran journalist who serves as Alabama NewsCenter editor.

Members of the media, bloggers, nonprofit organizations and community groups can use and share original Alabama NewsCenter stories, photos, videos and audio clips at no cost.

Here are some of the stories you’ll find today on Alabama NewsCenter:

  • An exclusive interview and video with Gov. Robert Bentley
  • A multimedia package examining the economic impact of Barber Motorsports Park
  • How a stranger saved a little girl from a deadly fire on Easter Sunday

“Alabama NewsCenter is a new resource that supports a mission Alabama Power began more than a century ago: to advance Alabama and promote growth and economic development by helping share the good stories of our wonderful state,” said John Hudson, Alabama Power’s vice president of Public Relations and Charitable Giving.
