Volunteers set to clean Weiss Lake Dec. 12
Last Renew Our Rivers cleanup of 2015

What: The last Renew Our Rivers cleanup of the year will take place Saturday, Dec. 12 at Weiss Lake. Volunteers should report at 8 a.m. to the Cedar Bluff Causeway ramp. Volunteers are asked to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. T-shirts, bags and gloves will be available for all volunteers. Minors must have a chaperone to participate. The cleanup will end at noon and lunch will be provided for volunteers.

This Renew Our Rivers cleanup is coordinated by the Weiss Lake Improvement Association and Alabama Power.

Overview: Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaigns, have collected nearly 14 million pounds of trash and debris since the program’s inception in 2000. This year, 31 cleanups were scheduled on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers.

Directions: Take Highway 411 from Gadsden to Centre. Turn left on the Highway 68 Bypass. Turn left at Highway 9. The boat ramp is approximately 3 miles on the left.
