LAKE CONDITIONS ALERT
Spillway gates continue operating at Coosa river dams; Weiss, Logan Martin and Smith lakes above summer levels

As heavy rains are expected to continue, Alabama Power will also continue operating spillway gates at its dams along the Coosa River. The Christmas week rain event continues to provide substantially elevated flows for the entire Alabama Power hydroelectric system.

As a result, Smith, Weiss, and Logan Martin lakes are currently above their summer pool elevations. According to the National Weather Service forecasts, a significant amount of rainfall is expected for our basins. These additional rains have the potential to cause additional rises in the current lake elevations, which could impact residences and business located along Alabama Power reservoirs.
Alabama Power will continue to closely monitor conditions on the lakes and manage resources carefully. Individuals with boats and other water-related equipment and facilities should always be alert to changing conditions on Alabama Power reservoirs and be prepared to take the necessary steps to protect their property.
