Volunteers set to clean Logan Martin Lake April 2-9

What: The annual Renew Our Rivers Logan Martin Lake cleanup is April 2-9. The cleanups will take place in several locations during the week. Volunteers should contact the coordinator for targeted areas. The week will conclude with a picnic and entertainment at Pell City Lakeside Park at noon on Saturday, April 9.

This Renew Our Rivers cleanup is coordinated by the Logan Martin Lake Protection Association and Alabama Power.

Overview: Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaigns, have collected more than 14 million pounds of trash and debris since the program’s inception in 2000. This year, 32 cleanups are planned through November on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers.

Directions: Pell City Lakeside Park from I-20: Take exit 158 toward Pell City. Take Highway 231 South. Travel for 3.2 miles and take a left onto Stemley Bridge Road. Follow for 1 mile and turn left onto Highway 34. The park is on the right with a Renew Our Rivers sign on the fence.
