Volunteers set to clean Omussee Creek Park March 18

What:  The Renew Our Rivers Omussee cleanup is Saturday, March 18. Volunteers should report at 9 a.m. at Gordon Boat Landing. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes. Minors must have a chaperone or permission slip to participate. The cleanup will finish at noon. Lunch will be provided for volunteers.

This Renew Our Rivers cleanup is coordinated by Alabama Power, Farley Nuclear Plant and friends of Lake Seminole.

Overview:  Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaigns, have collected more than 14 million pounds of trash and debris since the program’s inception in  2000. This year, 32 cleanups are planned through November on the Alabama, Black       Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers.

Directions: From Dothan, take East Highway 84. Turn left onto Highway 95. Cross the railroad tracks and turn right on Boat Landing Road. At the end of the road, turn left to Gordon Boat Landing.
