Georgia Power recognizes Agnes Scott College for energy efficiency efforts

ATLANTA – July 26, 2017 – Georgia Power recently joined leaders from Agnes Scott College to present a $100,000 rebate check as part of the company’s Commercial Energy Efficiency program. The rebate was awarded to the college in recognition of the completion of a variety of energy efficiency upgrades at the Decatur campus. During a special event at Agnes Scott College on Tuesday, July 25, the company presented a rebate check as part of Georgia Power’s Commercial Energy Efficiency program.

Agnes Scott College earned the rebate by completing various energy efficiency upgrades including upgrading lighting in more than 15 facilities on the campus, replacing chillers that serve a large portion of the campus and conversions of airflow reductions and valve retrofits. With the recent upgrades, Georgia Power estimates that Agnes Scott College may be able to reduce total energy use by more than 2,000 megawatt-hours annually.

Since the program’s inception in 2011, Georgia Power’s Commercial Energy Efficiency program has awarded more than $44 million in rebates. The program includes educational resources, rebates and incentives available to all commercial customers such as school systems, universities, hospitals, museums and many more.
