MEDIA ADVISORY Alabama Power partners with Zoom Motorsports for annual Electrathon Alabama

What: The annual Electrathon Alabama competition will be held at Barber Motorsports Park on Monday, April 15. High school and college students will drive electric-powered vehicles they designed for one hour in competition on a closed course.

In all, 39 cars from 19 high schools and five colleges and professional teams will compete. Students will enjoy a plug-in electric car show featuring vehicles from BMW, Chevrolet and Ford. Event sponsors include Alabama Power, SKY (Skilled Knowledgeable Youth), Zoom Motorsports and Barber Motorsports Park.

When: Monday, April 15. Vehicle inspections begin at 7:30 a.m. The first race starts at 10 a.m. and the second race starts at 1:30 p.m. Awards are scheduled to be presented at 3:30 p.m.
