Jackie Collins named vice president

Jackie Collins has been named vice president of Southern Company and Southern Company Services (SCS), which provides marketing, strategic planning, technological, financial, engineering and other services to various Southern Company subsidiaries. Collins was elected vice president by the respective boards of Southern Company and SCS.

In this role, Collins directs all aspects of Southern Company’s internal auditing function and will report to Allen Franklin, chairman, president and CEO of Southern Company.

Collins joined Southern Company in 1981 as an accountant at Georgia Power, Southern Company’s largest subsidiary. During his career, he has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in accounting and accounting research for both Georgia Power and SCS. His most recent position was director of internal auditing for SCS. Prior to that, he served as accounting director and assistant comptroller for SCS.

Collins is a graduate of Morehouse College where he received a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He has a master’s degree in Industrial Management from Carnegie-Mellon University. Collins also attended the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University and is a certified public accountant.
