Southern Energy Inc. opens offices in Ohio and Oregon

Southern Energy Inc., a unit of Southern Company, has named managers to oversee its newly opened business development offices in Columbus, Ohio, and Eugene, Ore.

Louis R. Jahn will manage the Columbus office, and Lisa Johnson will direct the Eugene office.

Jahn’s responsibilities include marketing power in the Midwest and representing Southern Energy’s clients in rate negotiations with utilities in the region. Johnson’s primary responsibilities involve marketing wholesale energy and tailored energy products and services in the Northwest. Southern Energy’s Northwest office previously was located in Vancouver, Wash.

Before joining Southern Energy in August 1996, Jahn spent 14 years at American Electric Power in Columbus as principal rate consultant and as rate research and design manager. He was responsible for developing and implementing commercial and industrial rates. Jahn holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from Rutgers University.

Johnson joined Southern Energy in June 1995 as marketing manager for the New England region. Before that, she spent five years with E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. Inc. as maintenance supervisor and plant engineer at one of Du Pont’s chemical plants. She also worked for Du Pont in Wilmington, Del., as an energy consultant. Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Duke University.

In addition to the new Ohio and Oregon offices and its headquarters in Atlanta, Southern Energy operates U.S. business development offices in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, San Francisco, Boston and Concord, N.H.
